I received this sms and it made sense to me. =D
Sometimes When We Touch By Dan Hill
You ask me if I love you and I choke on my reply I'd rather hurt you honestly than mislead you with a lie And who am I to judge you on what you say or do I'm only just beginning to see the real you And sometimes when we touch the honesty's too much And I have to close my eyes and hide I wanna hold you till I die till we both break down and cry I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides Romance and all its strategy leaves me battling with my pride But through the insecurity some tenderness survives I'm just another writer still trapped within my truths A hesitant prize fighter still trapped within my youth And sometimes when we touch the honesty's too much And I have to close my eyes and hide I wanna hold you till I die till we both break down and cry I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides At times I'd like to break you and drive you to your knees At times I'd like to break through and hold you endlessly At times I understand you and I know how hard you've tried I've watched while love mands you and I've watched love pass you by At times I think we're drifters still searching for a friend A brother or a sister But then the passion flares again And sometimes when we touch the honesty's too much And I have to close my eyes and hide I wanna hold you till I die till we both break down and cry I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides

Dynamics of Interpersonal Effectiveness
I felt the need to write this post because I don't seem to have friends who know the importance of interpersonal effectiveness. Or rather than condemning the whole pool of friends I have, I have at least one friend who doesn't know how essential interpersonal effectiveness is.
I shall start with friendship. Today, I just taught the kids in Yishun Reading Stars how to make friends. Beyond there and that, I believe the maintaining of friendships is a vital art for every one of us to learn as well. First and foremost, friends are not just there for you to rely on and make use of as and when you like. Friends are there because they feel you are worthy of their friendship. Friends do not just look for each other when they need help. Friends offer their help on the ball.
The philosophy of making friends is simple. Buddha sees all beings as equals. And friends should see one another as equals as well. There should be no discrimination between any differences. The art of maintaining friendships may be harder to comprehend. Buddha advocates treating every being with compassion and benevolence. And friends should treat one another with due respect.
All these stem basically from the kind of personality and upbringing one has. If one is never taught the way to handle friendships, I hope one can take some lessons away from this post. Never treat others like dirt because one will never know, there might come a day when one will need others' help. Take some time off one's busy schedule and talk to one's friends. If one has to wait till one have an agenda to look for a friend, one is probably a very terrible friend. Everyone is busy. Everyone has his or her own life and commitments in and outside school to attend to. But if some people can take time to say 'Hello, how are you?', should not one try as well?
We're all busy people with hectic schedules and deadlines. But at least for me, I do not talk to people only when I have an agenda. Because I know, for friendships to sustain more than I want it to be, I have to put in some effort. And I am glad, that at 19 years old, I think I might be enlightened by Buddha with regards to interpersonal effectiveness. Yes, Buddhism is about the way of life and how one carries oneself and treat others.
Put yourself in others' shoes, would you want your friends to only come to you when they need help? Or would you want your friends to be there whenever you want them to be? If you expect some things from your friends, be sure to do the same for them as well.

Nightmare
I was only taking a nap when I had a terrible nightmare which I vividly remember after I woke. This was how it went. I was walking in the opposite direction to the traffic flow down the flyover linking Singapore Polytechnic and the road towards NUS with two other friends. I know these two other friends would like to stay low-profile, so I shall not mention their names.
As we walked down the road, there was this scary funeral procession led by a Taoist priest in yellow robes. He was ringing a bell and it seemed as though it was a live presentation of those processions where priests led a line of zombies behind them. What followed next was a scarier sight, four men were carrying an old, traditional coffin you usually see in Hong Kong series, raised using levers. The descendents following behind were dressed in modern clothes which looked like a paradox with the conventional procession.
In fact, there wasn't really a thing that was actually freaking me out. It was the overwhelming aura of death and tradition that made things appear so frightening. I was surprised in the dream, when in face with such an ordeal, I remembered that I had to chant and in fact, I chanted the Manjusri Mantra "Om A Ra Pa Cha Na Dhīh" continuously and that calmed my nerves very much. For some reason, I knew I would be protected by Manjusri.
I think the reason why I had such a nightmare despite it being only a nap is because of the latest hottest topic of town. This topic has stirred many thoughts and I am glad it actually reinforced my thinking and faith. Another plausible reason for this incredible nightmare was because of the many accidents I hear of on the roads and of course, because I saw an ambulance rushing off the same road yesterday morning.
And a run after that clears up my mind again.

I have a dream I have a dream 在你怀中慢慢清醒 每个夜里 看着你轻轻睡去 风再乱 我们牵着手而行 永不弃 永不离 In my dream 最后我们会重遇 我的手 停泊在你的手心 不再逃离 直到世界停止了四季 我愿意 这世界 越来越多 坏的消息 是非曲直的议题 让人已忘记 也只有爱 可以抵抗黑白蓝绿 In my dream 最后我们会再重遇 我的手 停泊在你的手心 我不再逃离 一直到世界停止了四季 我愿意 In my dream 我们注定要再相遇 而风和雨 将在你和我的爱里得到平息 天知道我到底有多爱你 我爱你

X-Man Returns
Consciously or sub-consciously or unconsciously, the X-Man issue is surfacing everywhere. And different people have different views about it. Some feel that there is no point in transforming into an X-Man because there are many alternatives around, like Superman, Batman and Power Rangers or better still, they prefer to remain mortal.
Some feel that they cannot accept X-Man as the Superhero-of-All-Time as X-Man is too unbelievable to be true. I feel that X-Man is a subset of a greater pool of Superheroes! In fact, I believe in X-Man! It's just that the form I believe X-Man takes is not the one which is commonly known to others.
Today I taught all 5 Lees! And I really like Andrew and Philip! I secretly keep an album of their pictures on Facebook but I am no paedophile! The twins are beyond just being cute and I am surprised at a tender age of 5+, they can be stretched so much in different arenas. Tennis, pre-primary education, tuition for pre-primary education and what's more, X-Man training. Even though they are a family of X-Men, we get along very well. Children are like sponges, they simply accept what is given to them, so as teachers, we must teach them the right thing. They are also sponges of different absorption abilties, so as teachers, we must apply the correct pace to each child. I am glad I did not take too long to realise that Early Childhood Education is interesting, intriguing and challenging. Before I left, Andrew said he wanted to go home with me! And John thanked me for helping him. It's not as if I am looking out for some recognition from a kid but sometimes, it only takes a little to show your appreciation to others. Even an 8-year-old boy knows how to mind his Ps-and-Qs.
X-Man, you back off.

X-Man是神.
(I just used a pun in the above sentence, LOL, a Chinese pun!)
And what if I say X-Man is a piece of crap?

A Series of Bridge Playing Modules
I would like to wish my 姑姑 a Happy Birthday! (I have 3 姑姑s and I only call this one 姑姑, the others get a prefix before the 姑姑) She's brought me up since I was a baby! Some history about me, I was fostered out to my 姑姑's place from birth to 9 years old because both my parents had to work. I used to take the bicycle to Nursery and Kindergarten classes! Subsequently, my mom quit her job and I moved back home! And let's see what, when I was staying at my 姑姑's place, there were 7 kids running around the house! LOL!
A Series of Bridge Playing Modules

Snip!
I cut my hair! =D Now's it as short as I kept it when I was five, or even shorter, I reckon. I think I like my new hair!
The reason why I cut my hair? Because I saw Lam Lam cut hers too! And I am a copycat!

You Haven't Seen A Virgo More Defensive
I bet you haven't seen a virgo more defensive than me. Yes, the barrier which I am putting around myself is high up and almost impenetrable. Hardly anyone can transcend my physical and psychological limits and reach out to my inner being. And lies, they come as a form of joke, they are a means of protecting myself, they prevent me from exposing too much of myself to the people around me. I do not lie to hurt others, I lie to ensure I am defended, I lie as fun, as a way to protect others from the harsh and cruel truth. Mr Eko is right in saying, "I will not confess as I have done no wrong." The world has been brought to me and Mr Eko in such a sense that if we do not do something to protect ourselves, no one else will.
People have to go through rough patches to grow up and learn. Lives lead on a smooth-sailing road can never be as fruitful and meaningful as one that teaches the truths of life. As I have once complained, money doesn't come easy to me. Neither does it go easily from me. But these days, prices are increasing faster you can read this sentence. And all along I do not come from a family of daughters who buy make-up, clothes, accessories, food, toys, jewellery, stationery, etc as and when we like. So stop commenting that I have been spending unrestrictedly without basis. Frugality has all along been our way of life and it will continue to be but I must emphasize that this world is changing and we have to move on. Not everything can remain as a pass-it-on or a share-among-the-sisters. As much as I know money isn't something that falls like rain, when it is absolutely essential to spend, money has to go out of the pocket. There is no point being a miser and no point being a spendthrift as well. So long as I spend within my means and ensure that I do not have negative income, I am fine.
Sorry if I keep defending myself, a happier post at the Guai Gia Committee blog soon! Cause it's the Bu Liu Mings' NDP Outing 2008!

Happy 43rd National Day
Singapore is becoming a mature island and people are growing up.
How do people change as they grow up? Besides physical changes, I feel the psychological changes and intellectual changes are more important in the growing up stage of people. During this period, people will tend to think differently. They may think that their past behaviour was crap and begin to carry themselves in a different manner. They may think that their past circle of friends was too small and hope to expand it by interacting with more people. "Some people may have a great deal of friends but keeping in contact with them is another matter." Maintaining friendships is an art and it involves a lot of interpersonal skills. A simple gesture of friendliness on MSN can bring another warmth but constant Alt-F4-ing without reply is something which makes people feel one's unfriendliness. Guilty of that, I shan't say more. I hope if I have grown up, it will be for the better.
And with greater money comes greater expenditure. Is that a symptom of growing up as well, spending more? My contact lenses are running out, hence the need to buy more. Plus the voucher which I have gotten from NUS Matriculation Fair, it seemed that it was a good deal. Fair enough, I bought another 6 months supply of lenses at $180. And I calculated my transport costs for this upcoming academic year. I will need to spend an average of $80.40 per month travelling. This is saddening. Can a poor University student survive on $100 a month for food and stationery and books? Money is really running out these days. Gimme more money!
In any case, Happy 43rd Birthday, Singapore.

The Universe Has A Way Of Cause-Correcting
Desmond David Hume on Lost III: The universe has a way of cause-correcting.
This is the answer to whether there is such a thing as Fate or Destiny. If a person is fated to do a particular thing at a particular time, he or she has to do it. Just like Charlie in the show, he was destined to die and he died despite the many attempts by Desmond to save him. Life has already been pre-destined by Heaven. We can change minor details here and there like our hairstyle, our dress sense but ultimately, our lives are fixed. In some way or another, I believe in Fate too. That's why people meet, that's why people come together as family, as relatives, as friends and as acquaintances.
If Heaven has planned for me to do certain things, I'll do them. Because the universe has a way of cause-correcting, no matter how hard people try to go against Fate, I believe they are not going to succeed.
Accept Fate as it comes because it is Destiny that any thing happens.
And somehow it is Destiny that I wrote my insights here after watching Episode 8 of Lost III.
