Singapore is becoming a mature island and people are growing up.
How do people change as they grow up? Besides physical changes, I feel the psychological changes and intellectual changes are more important in the growing up stage of people. During this period, people will tend to think differently. They may think that their past behaviour was crap and begin to carry themselves in a different manner. They may think that their past circle of friends was too small and hope to expand it by interacting with more people. "Some people may have a great deal of friends but keeping in contact with them is another matter." Maintaining friendships is an art and it involves a lot of interpersonal skills. A simple gesture of friendliness on MSN can bring another warmth but constant Alt-F4-ing without reply is something which makes people feel one's unfriendliness. Guilty of that, I shan't say more. I hope if I have grown up, it will be for the better.
And with greater money comes greater expenditure. Is that a symptom of growing up as well, spending more? My contact lenses are running out, hence the need to buy more. Plus the voucher which I have gotten from NUS Matriculation Fair, it seemed that it was a good deal. Fair enough, I bought another 6 months supply of lenses at $180. And I calculated my transport costs for this upcoming academic year. I will need to spend an average of $80.40 per month travelling. This is saddening. Can a poor University student survive on $100 a month for food and stationery and books? Money is really running out these days. Gimme more money!
In any case, Happy 43rd Birthday, Singapore.
