Past

I guess everyone has a past, that's why we're each different, that's why the TV series Lost can be so popular. Things and events that happened in the past shape us, change us and should by right, teach us.

Digging the past of people, is it really so unethical? The past of a person, is it a critical part when judging him/her? An impression made better or worse based on the past which was discovered, does it reflect very badly on the person who is judging? Is it shallow just to simply change the opinion of a person because one has heard some things about the person's past? Should what a person has done in the past impede what he/she can/will do in the future?

Talking about the past, I reckon we may even forget some things which we've done, be it even a few minutes ago. If it were a sin, we should learn to repent and not make the same mistake. That's what the past is there for. For many past lifetimes, we've grown and re-incarnated. We've tried our best to reduce the bad karma we have accumulated and increase the good karma. The past is over, we must try harder to do more good deeds this lifetime and work harder to erase the bad we're done in the past. This should be the way we view the past.

The bad done in the past has been reflected as retribution we see in our lives in this lifetime. But this doesn't mean we must stop doing good because we're still given the chance of the present, the opportunity of the future. These greatly brings us forward away from what has been done and allows us to do better to atone for sins committed in the past.

As much as I try to view the past as bygones and let it lie low.
